Diary Entry Week 7

Music Magazine

I am in the final stages of my music magazine. I am adding final improvements to all three of my pages and checking all elements on them. I have touched up my front cover picture and positioned it finally and I have looked over every page and corrected any small errors such as spelling and punctuation. I am happy with my overall magazine and am pleased with the progress I have made between versions. I feel that getting feedback really helped me in the finishing elements of the magazine. I have realised errors that I might not have noticed and feel that it has improved since my last version. I am also happy with my new photos that I have taken, I am much happier with the quality and the overall design and layout that I have put with them. I have had moments where I have not been sure what to do for my magazine and created more drafts to make sure I was happy with the final piece.

Diary Entry Week 6

Music Magazine

This week I continued to act on feedback and improvements. I decided to reinsert my contents page pictures as one of them was blurry so I resaved it and put it back onto the document. I then decided to touch up the rest of the pages. I focused on my double page spread. I decided that for my columns I would like to give the column edges a torn effect so I added this to me design and I feel it give it an extra edge. I felt that it needed more of a rough and raw feel like my style model did so I decided to add this. I decided to change the colours on my contents page to a darker shade of grey and added a red border so that it would keep the colour scheme throughout the magazine. I also thought that my contents page needed more writing so I added a features section to the text and feel it looks better and more informative that it includes more information about the content of the magazine.

Music Magazine

I have continued to update my magazine after gaining very useful feedback and I am really happy with the progress I have made. I have retaken my pictures and I am really happy with them. I had looked at other magazines Hayley Williams had been on and realised that she did have a lot of attitude in her photo shoots, so I decided to incorporate this into my shots. I realised after I gained a response form the magazine that the colour scheme was jumbled and didn’t really fit into any particular style model. I decided to change my original idea that I put on my hand drawn designs and instead made it red black and grey being the dominant colours. I feel this works better as the text I had on the background fits better. I have restarted my double page spread as my file had broken so I started it a fresh. I inserted the new picture and still wanted to incorporate the “manufactured” and “blasphemy” quotes onto the page so decided to add these behind the picture. I have inserted the text for my double page spread and the contents page has also got a new picture which isn’t blurry, I have changed quite a few elements of my overall design but feel it all works a lot better and all of the different elements complement each other a lot better.

Double Page Spread Improvements:

• Hard to see text against red
• I don't like the red and yellow paint covers the writing and makes it hard to read
• Writing could be in three columns
• Make the text more clear larger?
• Theres a lot of empty space
• Make the "Paramore Will" a bit bigger

On my double page spread the red and yellow was not meant to be there. The file didn't work when i tried to open it so when we finally got it working it was in a non editable format and for some reason had added the colours. On the real version this wont be on there.

Music Magazine

I have finished the first draft of my magazine and have gained feedback on it. I will be uploading this to my blog. I looked over the feedback and have started writing notes on how things could be improved. I have decided to retake my picture as it has been said on my feedback that my front cover picture and my contents page picture are noticeably blurry. I feel I may change my ideas for pictures as it has been said that she should show a lot more attitude in the pictures as she gives on that persona in real life. I will incorporate this into my new pictures. I have also noticed that I have made careless errors on my draft as I have made several spelling and punctuation mistakes which I will change.

Music Magazine

I am in the process of completing the first draft of my magazine. I have taken my final pictures and inserted them onto the front page and contents page. I felt that using white for the majority of my magazine might not have worked, but I have incorporated some designs that are fitting the topic I am writing my article on onto the space and it looks good. I have changed around my contents page and it looks more like the genre I am portraying. I have also added a new colour and exchanged blue for dark grey as it fits the genre better. I have written my article for the double page spread and I had a look at others that had been written in my style model to help me with my own and I am happy with what I have written and feel it works well for the piece.  Overall I am happy with my first draft and feel it has come together well and all I have to do now is add the finishing touches such as the barcode.

I have now taken my pictures and I have filtered through the ones I need. I have restarted my designs that I had created on the computer as they did not look very professional. I have started to insert the pictures and they work well and I feel I have chosen the write style model to work with. I chose a model that looked similar to the artist I was using for the front cover and styled her to look more like her. The images work well but some are blurry which I will have to alter. I feel I am in the process of creating something I can be proud of and I am altering things quite regularly but the elements are starting to come together.

Music Magazine

After planning my magazine I have started to design it. I have started to design the front cover after making my initial designs. I have been looking at my initial designs and have been using them as a guide for my first draft. I have also started to design my contents page and double page spread making the bare skeleton of each ready to insert my pictures later on in the week which I have planned. I have tried to incorporate the colour blue in my initial designs as I feel it is different and unique to this genre (rock) but I’m not quite sure whether it will work with the overall layout.
